Joe Lieberman is too Good for You

If Harry Reid did indeed offer the chairmanship of the Senate Veterans' Affairs committee to Joe Lieberman (I-CT), Joe responded like an asshole:

A Senate Democratic source familiar with the meeting confirms that account and tells CNN that one of options Reid gave Lieberman in a private meeting Thursday is Chairman of the Veteran's Affairs Committee.

But the aide to Lieberman says the Connecticut senator made clear that was "not acceptable" to him, and reminded Reid that he was one of the Senators who wrote the legislation creating the Homeland Security Department, and that's where he wants to stay.

Get that? You aren't good enough for Joe Lieberman. You are beneath him.  You are not worth his time.  You are "unacceptable".

What Joe fails to realize is that if you don't take care of Veterans,  no one will want to be a Veteran. This means that no one will want make the sacrifice we all made when we committed our selves to service.  Not taking care of our Veterans' weakens our National Security. So maybe Chickenhawk Joe should remember that when he considers a move to Veterans' Affairs "unacceptable".

The word is... (0.00 / 0)
...that Lieberman, of course, plans on caucusing with the GOP.

I say, let him! Having him caucus red is much preferable than having him heading the VA committee right now. As I mentioned elsewhere, we might as well have McCain chair the committee.

We need to have a Vet chairing this panel, end of story.

SENATE SHUFFLE COULD ELEVATE MURRAY (0.00 / 0)
TO VETS' COMMITTEE CHAIR -- With the Dems trying to "bounce" Joe Lieberman, Patty Murray could take Daniel Akaka's chair.

She'd be a great person to take on that role. (4.00 / 2)

Along with... (4.00 / 1)
Tammy Duckworth at VA.

There's (0.00 / 0)
Something about Tammy that tells me She Needs either a Roll in this Administration or to get Baracks Senate seat.

From all reports out of Illinois she's doing a Great job with the VA there.

I still say that Harry Reid is the one who needs to loose his position as (0.00 / 0)
Senate Majority Leader as well as Lieberman getting kicked out of the DEM caucus. Reid is just doing more of the same:  rearranging the chairs on the deck of the Titanic.

Lieberman needs to be fighting for Committee positions from the GOP.

This whole discussion of Lieberman on the VA Comm. seems like a flash bang smoke screen about the positions that Lieberman has because of his remaining a caucus member in the majority party.

He has done a shitty job on Homeland Security. Let him fight for ranking member status with Susan Collins.

See my diary about Lieberman and the Armed Services Comm. Let Lieberman sit with his buddies like Graham on that Committee.

Some discussion here:

Word is that Obama has been working on changes for Agencies since August. The names of Max Cleland and Tammy Duckworth are emerging for VA Sec. Let's hope that Tammy gets the nod. While Max is worthy and served under Carter, Tammy has been actively working with the current VA and would be 'up to speed' on current BS with some insider knowledge of where the bodies are buried.

Regardless, this is for the best... (0.00 / 0)
Let Traitor Joe go over to the GOP...the Dems shouldn't bend over backward for him after his chickenhawk antics.

GOP, (0.00 / 0)
Democrat, who gives a flying shit? Just find a competent vet with a proven record of supporting the troops and leave it at that.
